During the week of 17th July the Southend Parks Bowls Circle Two Wood competition, comprising 17 teams, was hosted by Whitehall B.C.
The Southchurch Park team of Bernice & Rob Abrahams having already played four earlier round robin matches, beat Fairwood ‘B’ in the semi final and then Fairwood ‘A’ 16-12 in the final.
Congratulations to Bernice & Rob, who became second time winners of the Two Wood competition having won it in 2018.
On Wednesday 26th July 2023 the club held it’s annual Australian Pairs day that was attended by 24 members who participated in the event.
A fine day of bowling was enjoyed by all, with the winning pair Christine Thorpe and Malcom Fisher, beating Margaret Patrick and Trevor Paterson in the final.
Well done to all the players and congratulations to the winners and runners-up.
Congratulations to Sue Lathwell who has won the club’s 2022 Spoons competition, narrowly beating her husband Roger by 1 point.
We would also like to thank John Parsons, pictured presenting Sue with her trophy, who has organised the weekly competition since early May.
During the week of 25th July Southchurch Park Bowling Club hosted the Southend Parks Bowls Circle Two Wood finals week involving 16 member clubs.
The culmination of the week’s play saw father and daughter Derek and Nicky Reader beat Paul Tidy and Anna Leslie in the final. The trophy was presented by Southchurch Park B.C. President, Bernice Abrahams.
